Ok, so although laying around all day may sound good at first, it gets old quick! I am having even more trouble sleeping now due to my inactivity during the day! Oh well, this too will pass! I'm getting in a lot of reading, knitting and movies, which is nice. I'm sure before I know it this little one will be here and I'll wish I had time for this kind of stuff!
The baby is doing great. I went to the doctor on Monday and was tested for Fetal Fibronectin- a chemical that is released if you are going to give birth within 2 wks. The test was negative, so it looks like the bed rest and med's are workin'!
I am very lucky to have my wonderful sister, Jessie here this week. She and Emily have been a tremendous help and it has been great having them here. John Luke is having no trouble adjusting to me being in bed all day with them around! He told me the first day- "Mama, it's daytime your supposed to get up!". He is having so much fun now I think he hardly notices. He is still my baby and it is hard trying to picture him being the older sibling, but I know he will make a great big brother!

Let's start at the very begenning........
I'm creating this blog so I can keep everyone updated on my pregnancy and what is going on in our family. I'm not sure how good of a blogger I will be, but I'll give it an honest try. So, here goes..........
Pregnancy Update #1 - 28 weeks
As most of you know I have been having contractions with this pregnancy since about 12 weeks. They were annoying but harmless and my doctors have been watching me carefully. Last week I went to my Maternal Fetal Specialist to have an ultrasound to check the baby's growth, etc. We discovered that the contractions weren't as harmless as we thought and I was put on medication to help calm the uterus. The medication worked at first, but after some very scary ordeals and two trips to Labor and Delivery, here I am back at home on bed rest for the next 9 weeks. Despite how aweful the medication makes me feel and how boring bedrest is (and challenging at times with a 2 yr old!), it is keeping the contractions under control and keeping this baby cookin' and for that I am very thankful.
The good news is that the baby is growing fast and is very healthy! He weighs 2 lbs 4 oz and is right on track for his age! The nurses said he had "beautiful acceleration", which apparently means he responds well during a contraction. He seems to be a fiesty little guy already. He doesn't like the fetal monitors and kicks them vigorously while they are on. He is very active and we love to feel him moving around in my tummy.
I am so very thankful to be back at home with my boys, who are taking wonderful care of me. Thank you all for your prayers and warm wishes. I'll be update as I know more.
